Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the 2-day Poker Weekend that I attended already and the Poker Weekend Cruise?
The stark difference between the 2-day Poker Weekend and the Cruise is that during the cruise, we will offer our Advanced Tournament Strategies Course (ATSC) which focuses solely on tournament strategies versus the 2-day Poker Weekend which encompassed both cash game and tournament strategies. Plus, the 2-day Cruise Weekend provides our customers with a $330 buy-in tournament and a prize pool.
What will I learn from Team DeepStacks at the ATSC?
Team DeepStacks will teach you such things as: Navigating Large and Small Fields, Stage and Blind Level Management, Accumulation and Control, In-Depth Hole Card Analysis, Making the Final Table and so much more… It is one of the most comprehensive courses DeepStacks offers to our students on tournament play!
How much of the course is at the tables versus in the classroom?
Because we are limiting the number of students for this course specifically, Team DeepStacks is conducting approximately 90%-95% of the course at the tables. There are some things your instructors must teach in the classroom that helps in the learning process.
Where is the training and tournament being held?
The training and the tournament are being held on the ship in the DeepStacks Poker Room. The room will be converted from the training on Saturday to a tournament room on Sunday evening.
How long is the ATSC on Saturday?
The ATSC registration begins at 8:30 am and the course begins promptly at 9:00 am. The course goes from 9:00 am to approximately 6:00 pm or later (depending on students’ requests).
What is the difference between the 2-day Poker Weekend Championship Tournament and the DeepStacks Poker Tour Caribbean Classic?
During the championship tournament, students play for a lone $1,000 first place prize and a trip to Vegas for a $10,000 seat into a major event. The Caribbean Classic offers a larger cash prize pool and offers more players a chance to make money. Also, the Caribbean Classic is the first event in the DeepStacks Poker Tour tournament circuit!
Why doesn’t the winner of the Caribbean Classic win a trip to Vegas?
Due to the fact that we can offer a cash prize pool and pay deeper for players, we have substituted the Vegas trip with the money which you can then spend however you wish.
Can you give me the details about the tournament?
The tournament is on Sunday evening in the DeepStacks Poker Room with registration/seating beginning at 7:30 pm and a start time of 8:00 pm. Each player starts with 5,000 in chips with an option for an additional 2,500 in chips for an extra $20 add-on (paid prior to tournament start). The blinds start at 25/50 and escalate every 20 minutes. There is a break/color-up after every four levels and lasts 15 minutes. The tournament will end when we have a winner.
During the tournament’s final table, can we make deals and “chop”?
Player deals, i.e. chops, will be allowed only between the remaining 3 players at the final table. A chop can only be made for the remaining 3 payout position monies with the 3 players having to play for the tournament’s trophy.
Will there be live games offered in the DeepStacks Poker Room? And what limits?
Yes. We will be offering our students live action in the DeepStacks Poker Room throughout the cruise when it doesn’t interfere with the training and/or Caribbean Classic, and only during the times that the ship’s casino is open. Live action will be spread and limits set based on students’ request but will include $1/$2, $2/$5 and $5/$10 NL.
Will there be any other games being offered during live action?
Yes. We will be offering Multi-Table Tournaments and Single-Table Sit-n-Go’s based on student requests and table availability. Buy-ins will be set during the live action period and set by students request or by DeepStacks Poker Room staff.
